Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Pablo Virgilio David on Tuesday urged the Israeli government to cease its military operations in Gaza and other occupied Palestinian territories.
In a Facebook post, David referenced the Holocaust, saying, “You are a people who have carried the memory of unspeakable suffering, of genocide and ethnic cleansing that once sought to erase you from history.”
Citing Psalm 95:7–11, David called on Israel to “hear the voice of the Lord” and reject policies that inflict collective suffering on another people.
“Today, the eyes of the world see a terrible contradiction. Your government’s policies in Gaza and in the occupied Palestinian territories have inflicted upon another people what you yourselves once endured,” he said, noting that families in Palestine have been displaced, their homes destroyed, and children killed in the conflict.
The bishop warned that Israel cannot achieve lasting peace and security through brute force., This news data comes from:http://rsyyifnm.yamato-syokunin.com
“Security cannot be built on domination, nor peace upon oppression. The pursuit of a Zionist ideological agenda at the expense of another people’s dignity and survival is not only unjust—it desecrates your own history, your own Scriptures, and your covenant with the God of justice and mercy,” David stressed.
He implored Israel’s leaders, particularly rabbis, to speak out and guide their people toward ending the violence.
“For the sake of your children and the children of Gaza, for the sake of Israel’s own soul, let this be the day you hear His voice. Let it be the day you say, once and for all: Never again—to anyone,” David said.
